Laurence Edwards was born in Sussex on the South Coast of England. He decided in 1968 to move to Canada, working for a period of four years. However, after the birth of his daughter, he returned with his family to England. From an early age the artist had always had a desire to paint and in 1996 decided to change his life and moved to Southern France, enabling him to study and paint full time. For three years he studied at the Atelier De Painture Les couleurs de L'Evasion, where he went on to win several competitions and successfully exhibited his work in France, England and Spain. Also now, Canada and the U.S.A, where his paintings now hang in private collections.
The artist preferred medium is painting with oils, interpreting the world around him with an eye for an impression of reality, allowing his imagination and experience to develop the subject as he views it. The subject matter for painting is diverse, as he paints what inspires him, which is often light, colour or atmosphere. He particularly enjoys painting en plein aire. His work is also available at the Artique Art collective and the Tug - Ghum Gallery at Lund.
